Community support makes the Bremerton Assistance programs possible.   Your talents and treasure are spread throughout the community helping those in need.

        • For instance we always need donations (food or money) Specific needs for our food bank include: Non-perishable food products Pop top storage containers for our homeless families Personal care items such as: dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, also diapers and baby food as well as dog and cat food.
        • Donations can be made at the SVDP offices and retail stores or via your parish or mail to office.

Volunteers are the engine that makes SVDP go: While the assistance center has three paid staff, we rely on volunteers, without them we would be unable to keep our doors open. We accept volunteers of all ages. Anyone interested in volunteering to make a difference in our community, please call or come on in to see for yourself.  See who we serve and how your talents could make a difference.  Volunteers pick their days and hours to work.  All positions are on the job training and include interviewing, packing food baskets, stocking shelves, cleaning, repackaging, etc.

Community Service workers are welcomed including youth who need service to the community hours for high school. It is said “that more than two-thirds of those who volunteer report that giving back makes them feel physically better.”

In order to better serve the complex needs of our client families SVDP often partners with a myriad of like-minded service providers.

        • Partners such as: Kitsap Mental Health Kitsap; Community Resources Housing Solutions Center; Coffee Oasis; Bremerton Housing Authority; D.S.H.S.; Salvation Army;various churches; the YWCA and other food banks within the Kitsap County region.
